The All-BIG EAST guard will head to Southern California after leading Georgetown in scoring during the 2025-26 season.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Former Georgetown guard KJ Lewis is taking his talents to the West Coast after signing with the University of Southern California (USC) for the 2026-27 men's basketball season. USC officially announced Lewis's addition on May 18, bringing one of Georgetown's leading players from last season to Los Angeles.
Lewis joins head coach Eric Musselman and the USC Trojans after a standout junior season with the Hoyas. The 6-foot-4 guard established himself as one of the team's most important players, leading Georgetown in scoring and earning Third-Team All-BIG EAST honors.
A Breakout Season at Georgetown
Lewis made a significant impact during his lone season with Georgetown after transferring from the University of Arizona. In the 2025-26 campaign, he averaged 14.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He also averaged 2.1 steals per game, showcasing his ability to make an impact on both ends of the court.
His defensive performance was a major part of his value to the Hoyas. Lewis finished second in the BIG EAST in steals per game and recorded double-digit scoring performances in 24 games. His production earned him recognition as one of the conference's top players.
Lewis's season came to an unfortunate end in late February when he suffered a left ankle injury against Marquette. The injury forced him to miss the remainder of Georgetown's season, leaving the Hoyas without their leading scorer during the final stretch of conference play and the postseason.
A New Opportunity at USC
At USC, Lewis will bring scoring ability, defensive intensity and valuable college basketball experience to the Trojans. Musselman expressed excitement about adding Lewis to the program, highlighting his competitiveness, leadership and ability to defend multiple positions.
Lewis also brings experience from Arizona, where he played for two seasons before transferring to Georgetown. During his sophomore season with the Wildcats in 2024-25, he averaged 10.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game and helped Arizona reach the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16. <Cite refs={["turn672627search0","turn672627search11"]}/>
The move gives Lewis an opportunity to continue developing his game in the Big Ten, where USC competes against a different group of opponents than he faced in the BIG EAST. His ability to create scoring opportunities, attack the basket and generate turnovers could make him an important part of the Trojans' rotation.
What This Means for Georgetown
Lewis's departure leaves Georgetown with a significant scoring gap to address heading into the 2026-27 season. Replacing a player who averaged nearly 15 points per game will be an important challenge for head coach Ed Cooley as the Hoyas work to improve their performance in the BIG EAST.
Georgetown will need other players to take on larger offensive roles and help fill the production Lewis provided. His departure also marks another change in the roster as the program continues to build toward the upcoming season.
For USC, meanwhile, Lewis represents an experienced addition who has already demonstrated that he can produce against high-level college competition.
As both programs prepare for the new season, Lewis's move from Georgetown to USC will be one of the notable roster changes to follow in college basketball. The Trojans will look to make the most of his abilities, while the Hoyas will work to replace one of their most productive players from last season.
