Georgetown Home Opener Set for November Second at Capital One Arena
The Hoyas will begin their 2026-27 regular season Monday night against Loyola Maryland in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Georgetown men's basketball will open its 2026-27 regular season on Monday, November 2, against Loyola University Maryland at Capital One Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. as the Hoyas begin a new season in front of their home crowd.
The matchup marks the first regular-season game of the year for Georgetown, which will look to start its campaign with a win against a familiar opponent. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
Georgetown enters the season under head coach Ed Cooley, who continues to lead the Hoyas as they work to establish themselves in the BIG EAST. Monday's matchup gives the team its first opportunity of the regular season to compete at Capital One Arena and build momentum heading into a busy November schedule.
The Hoyas will face a Loyola Maryland team led by head coach Josh Loeffler. The Greyhounds finished the 2025-26 season with a 12-20 overall record and an 8-10 mark in Patriot League play. They will look to begin the new season with a strong performance against their local opponent.
Georgetown has historically had the advantage in the series between the two programs. The Hoyas hold a 36-7 all-time record against Loyola Maryland. The teams last met during the 2010-11 regular season, when Georgetown earned a 99-75 victory.
Following Monday's opener, Georgetown will remain at Capital One Arena for another notable matchup against Maryland on Saturday, November 7. The Hoyas will then face Delaware State on November 10 before traveling to Clemson on November 13.
