WASHINGTON, D.C. — Georgetown men's basketball head coach Ed Cooley is looking forward to the 2026-27 season as he enters his fourth year leading the Hoyas. After an offseason focused on rebuilding the roster and adding new talent, Cooley is excited about what the upcoming season could bring.

Georgetown has brought in eight new players, including several transfers from major college basketball programs. Cooley emphasized the importance of adding experience, improving perimeter shooting and building team chemistry during the offseason.

The Hoyas will face a challenging schedule this season, with matchups against Maryland, Clemson, Texas and North Carolina. Cooley believes the competition will provide valuable opportunities for his team to develop and prepare for BIG EAST play.

Cooley also stressed the importance of having support from Georgetown fans, students and alumni at Capital One Arena. Building a strong home-court advantage will be an important part of the team's goals this season.

Georgetown was picked to finish 10th in the BIG EAST preseason coaches' poll, giving the team plenty to prove heading into the new campaign.

With a new group of players and another season ahead, Cooley and the Hoyas are ready to get to work. Georgetown will open its season November 2 against Loyola Maryland at Capital One Arena.
